Dalsheim is a small village in the south of the Rheinhessen wine region. It is located about 15 km west of the Rhine river and has about 1500 inhabitants.
2000 years ago the Romans brought the wine culture into our region. The village Dalsheim was already in the Middle Ages famous for its wines.
To protect the wines and the village against enemy attacks, in the 15th century a wall was built, enclosing the village completely. The wall of about 1 km length and its towers completely survived and were restored in the 1980ies.
